Surface Prep — Oak
- 1Sand to 120-grit — no finer, as over-sanding glazes the surface and reduces absorption.
- 2Wipe with a clean, dry cloth to remove dust. Do not use solvents before PVA or aliphatic glues.
- 3Oak tannins can inhibit contact cements — test on scrap first.
- 4Freshly planed or sanded oak is ideal. Avoid bonding mill-glazed surfaces.
Safety Warnings
Cold-temperature chalking risk: Below 10°C (50°F) this adhesive may dry powdery with near-zero strength.
