Surface Prep — Plastic (ABS / Polypropylene)
- 1Lightly scuff with 220-grit sandpaper to increase surface area, then clean with isopropyl alcohol.
- 2Polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) have very low surface energy — most adhesives will not bond permanently without a flame-treatment or special primer.
- 3ABS and PVC bond well with structural adhesives after sanding.
- 4Do not use solvents like acetone on ABS — it will dissolve the surface.
